Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
On March 18, at Georgia Diagnostics and Classification Prison, the Sergeant observed Visitor Quinteria Grace pass an unknown item to an offender during visitation. The Sergeant immediately approached the offender and Visitor Grace and confiscated the contraband from the offender’s front left pocket. The contraband consisted of 02 balls of marijuana (unweighted) wrapped in clear cellophane. Staff conducted a search of the offender’s person and no additional contraband was found. Visitor Grace was interrogated by two institutional Investigators and she confessed to bringing in the contraband. Visitor Grace also consented to be searched, and no additional contraband was found on her person. Visitor Grace was arrested by the Butts County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 19, Visitor Anthony Wade attempted to enter Autry State Prison for visitation when a strong odor of marijuana was detected by the Special Operations Coordinator. The Special Operations Coordinator asked Visitor Wade if he was aware of the odor in which Visitor Wade stated, “He had just smoked a joint”. Visitor Wade also stated that he was dropped off by an unknown female driver, who was waiting for him in the facility parking lot. The Special Operations Coordinator asked Visitor Wade’s consent to be searched and Visitor Wade denied consent. Visitor Wade was detained in front entry. The Institutional Investigator and Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office were both notified.
Visitor Wade was then searched by Georgia Department of Corrections Interdiction Response Team (I.R.T) and a Mitchell County Sheriff’s Deputy. The following contraband was discovered on his person: 09 balls of marijuana wrapped in plastic, weighing 16 grams. The contraband was confiscated by I.R.T and Visitor Wade was arrested by Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office.
Autry State Prison’s Institutional Investigator was later given consent by Civilian Whitley Smalls, the female driver, to search her vehicle. Concealed Inside of Civilian Smalls’ handbag, an unknown amount of marijuana was discovered inside of a cigarillo pack. The contraband was confiscated and Civilian Whitley Smalls was also arrested by Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 19, Dooly County Sheriff's Department arrested Dooly State Prison Correctional Officer Tiffany King after she entered the facility with contraband. Upon entry, a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from Officer King’s person. She was asked by the Portal Sergeant to consent to be searched, which she refused. She then asked to speak with the Deputy Warden in private. At that time, she pulled out a small camouflage wrap tape of marijuana. Officer King was charged with violating oath and crossing guard lines with contraband.
