Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,232 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On May 12, the Wrightsville Police Department conducted a traffic stop near Johnson State Prison. During the stop, officers discovered 24 cell phones, 1.48 oz. of methamphetamine, 9.4 oz. of marijuana and 6 lbs. 10 oz. of tobacco, 2 tubes of super glue and an unknown number of phones chargers, earphone and cigarettes. Civilians Marcus Trimble, Tedros Sisey and Enrique Petty were arrested by the Wrightsville Police Department.

On May 11 at Coastal State Prison, security staff discovered an unknown amount of ecstasy and crack cocaine in a visitor’s vehicle. Civilian Aja Roseboro was arrested by Savannah Police Department.

On May 10, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office observed a man walking near Hancock State Prison. After approaching the man, the officer discovered a bag containing contraband. The civilian was arrested by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

On May 8, the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle near Dooly State Prison. During the stop, the officers discovered four packages of suspected contraband. Three civilians were arrested by the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office.
