Contraband Arrest at Washington State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 947 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On April 29, at Washington State Prison, the perimeter officer observed a charcoal gray Ford Edge in the rear of facility. The officer observed Visitor Jessyica Harmon placing a white bag between two propane tanks. Upon further investigation of the area, the officer discovered three (3) golf ball sized packages wrapped in electrical tape. The contraband consisted of an unknown amount of rolling paper and tobacco. A search of the vehicle was also conducted, and 50-100 pre-paid cards were discovered. Visitor Harmon was arrested by The Washington County Sheriff’s Office for crossing guard lines with contraband.
