Contraband Arrest at Valdosta State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 983 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On August 19, at Valdosta State Prison, Food Service Manager Kamela Miley was arrested by Lowndes County Sheriff's Department for bringing contraband across the guard line. When Miley entered the front entry reporting for duty, the portal sergeant noticed a suspicious bulge on her person. Miley consented to a search of her person and the following contraband was discovered: 2 bags of tobacco.
