Contraband Arrest at Valdosta State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 933 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On March 12, Correctional Officer Delandre Parham was arrested by the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department for attempting to enter Valdosta State Prison with contraband. Officer Parham entered the front entry building reporting for duty. The Portal Sergeants noticed a suspicious bulge in the groin area of Officer Parham. Officer Parham consented to a pat search and at that time contraband was found. The contraband consisted of 16.7 ounces of tobacco in clear wrapping and five, one hundred dollar bills.
