Contraband Arrest at Telfair State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 949 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On May 13, at Telfair State Prison, the canine unit gave indication of the presence of contraband at a vehicle. After conducting a search of the vehicle, an unwrapped blunt (marijuana) was discovered inside of a pocketbook. In the trunk area, there were 02 grams of marijuana inside a clear plastic bag. Civilian Channell Clarke was placed under arrest by the Institutional Investigator and transported to Telfair County Sheriff’s Office for holding.
