Contraband Arrest at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1380 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On February 22 at Rogers State Prison, a vehicle was stopped near the facility’s farm area. Civilians Justin Jernigan and Tabitha Pilgrim were found with a loaded, ski masks, and drones. Their trunk had multiple bundles that contained the following contraband: cell phone, charger, wash cloths, rolling paper, meth, marijuana and tobacco. Civilian Jernigan and Civilian Pilgrim were arrested by Washington County Sheriff's Office.

On February 20 at Rogers State Prison, a traffic stop by the facility’s farm area found civilians Charmaine Roberts and Rachel Yerty with multiple packages of tobacco wrapped in cellophane. Civilians Roberts and Yerty were transported to Tattnall County Jail.

On February 17 at Calhoun State Prison, Imani Ferguson was checking in through the front bunker when the portal sergeant noticed some hot pockets didn't look right as they passed through the x-ray machine. The hot pockets were opened and found to contain tobacco. Imani Ferguson was arrested by Calhoun County Sheriff's Office and transported to county jail.

On February 17 at Calhoun State Prison, Officer Corlethia Lattimore was checking in through the front bunker when the portal sergeant noticed some hot pockets didn't look right as they passed through the x-ray machine. The hot pockets were opened and the following contraband tobacco, and methamphetamine was found inside. Officer Lattimore was arrested by Calhoun County Sheriff's Office and transported to county jail.
