Contraband Arrest at Multiple State Prisons
On December 13 at Coastal State Prison, the Portal Sergeant noticed two suspicious items on store clerk Latasha McKines’ person, as she attempted to enter the facility. Ms. McKines voluntarily handed over the 2 packages containing 20 ounces of tobacco to the Institutional Investigator. McKines was placed under arrest by the Savannah Metro Police Department.
On December 16 at the Montgomery State Prison’s Chicken House detail, parolee Shawn Shealy was observed giving a black trash bag to an offender. The bag contained 1 can of smokeless tobacco and 24 packs of tobacco. Parolee Shealy was arrested by Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
On December 17 at Telfair State Prison, security staff noticed an item protruding from the pants pocket of a child, whom was accompanied by three visitors. After a search, security staff recovered 2 round objects inside of the child’s pockets. The objects contained 4 grams of tobacco and 16 grams of suspected methamphetamine. When security staff attempted to deliver the child to his mother, Taniqua Roberts, who was waiting in her vehicle, attempted to flee from facility grounds and collided with the perimeter vehicle. After staff conducted a search of visitor Roberts, she was arrested by Georgia State Patrol.
On December 17 at Wilcox State Prison, while attempting to enter the front entrance, security staff noticed a bulge in Food Service Courtney Jackson's torso area. After a search, they recovered contraband consisting of 3 packs of marijuana, 1 pack of tobacco and 1 pack of an unknown substance. Courtney Jackson was arrested by Wilcox County Sheriff’s Department.
