Contraband Arrest at Calhoun State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 977 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On July 4, while making rounds, a Calhoun State Prison perimeter officer observed a suspicious person dressed in all white near the wood line. Calhoun County Deputies arrived on the scene and observed Probationer Chadwick Mancil parked on the side of the road on Highway 45 near the county public works barn. A strong odor of marijuana came from the vehicle. After conducting a search of the vehicle, the following contraband was discovered behind the driver’s seat: 1 sandwich bag containing marijuana (unweighted), 1 black meth lab case, 1 homemade tattoo gun, 1 crack pipe, and a small bag of a white unknown substance that appears to be methamphetamine. Mancil was placed under arrest and transported to Calhoun County Jail.
