As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 754 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
- On July 26, 2015, at Dooly State Prison, a random search was conducted during shift change. Officers Roosevelt Trice, Shawn Taylor, Cortavius Henderson, and Christy Hall were found to have contraband within the facility. The following items were confiscated from the following officers: Roosevelt Trice Jr. had rolling papers, Shawn Taylor had 17.4 oz. of tobacco, Cortavius Henderson had 17.4 oz. of tobacco, and Christy Hall had 26.5 oz. of tobacco. All four were arrested by the Dooly County Sheriffï¿½s Office.
- On July 26, 2015, at Smith State Prison, the duty officer was making security rounds and observed a vehicle in the visitor parking lot that was unsecured, with the windows rolled down. He observed a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle, which belonged to visitor Diamond Williams. Visitor Williams was arrested by Glenville Police Department.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
