Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 746 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

  1. On July 8, 2015, Alisha Wilson was arrested by Tattnall County Sheriff’s Department after she was observed on state premises in a vehicle, attempting to pass contraband at the Vehicle Maintenance Farm Shop at Roger State Prison. The contraband included: six (6) cell phones, eight (8) balls of marijuana, and 70 balls of tobacco.
  2. On July 8, 2015, at Dooly State Prison, Food Service Supervisor Marshall Lafellis attempted to enter the front entry building with a suspicious looking potato chip bag in hand. The bag was searched and 11 ounces of tobacco was found inside the bag. Marshall Lafellis was arrested by the Dooly County Sheriff's Department.
  3. On July 11, 2015, at Dodge State Prison, K9 unit alerted on vehicle in staff parking lot. The vehicle was searched and an undetermined amount of marijuana was found inside the vehicle belonging to Correctional Officer Israel Lockhart. Israel Lockhart was arrested by the Dodge County Sheriff's Department.

The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
