Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 736 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On May 20, at Georgia State Prison a search was conducted of Correctional Officer Diasha Chatman’s vehicle. Inside her vehicle 175 grams (5.5 ounces) of tobacco and two packs of rolling papers wrapped in plastic and black electrical tape were recovered. She was arrested and transported to Tattnall County Jail.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
