As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 706 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On December 6, 2014 at Calhoun State Prison, K-9 unit attempted to search visitor Yolanda Shontel Allisonâ€™s vehicle before visitor Allison exited parking lot. Calhoun County Sheriffâ€™s office stopped visitor Allisonâ€™s vehicle and a search was conducted. Forty-one grams of marijuana was found, wrapped in small balloons, hidden on her person. Visitor Allison also had a juvenile passenger in her vehicle. Visitor Allison was arrested by the Calhoun Sheriffâ€™s Office and the juvenile was taken to the county jail to be monitored by the Division of Family and Children Services.
On December 6, 2014 at Calhoun State Prison, visitor Christiana Eyzavquirreâ€™s vehicle was searched. The following items were found: 4.5 grams of methamphetamine, 17 Morphine pills and $1,020.00 in cash. Visitor Eyzavquirre was arrested by the Calhoun Sherriffâ€™s Office.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
