As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 697 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
1.On October 22, 2014 at Ware State Prison, staff became aware that Officer Fer-rell Malone might have been concealing contraband on his person. Officer Malone consented to a search and they discovered two large bundles of tobacco (undetermined amount). Officer Malone was arrested by Ware County Sheriffâ€™s Office.
2. On October 22, 2014 at Dooly State Prison, staff became aware of potential contraband located on both Officer Audrianna Cobbâ€™s person and Storekeeper Christina Bridgesâ€™ person. After searching, Officer Cobb was found to have two bundles of tobacco (weighing 12 ounces) hidden in her boots along with six packs of rolling papers hidden within in her socks. Store Keeper Bridges was found to have one ounce of tobacco on her person. Both Cobb and Bridges were arrested by Dooly County Sheriffâ€™s Office.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
