As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 668 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
- On June 15, 2014, the staff of Dodge State Prison received notification of a potential contraband drop that would occur at a store near the prison grounds. Surveillance was set-up at the store and a vehicle in which civilian Ashley Hutchison was driving arrived. Hutchison got out of the vehicle and had in her possession 1 black bag that contained 5 balls of marijuana wrapped in electrical tape and another bag which contained 17 balls of tobacco wrapped in electrical tape. Civilian Hutchinson and civilian Antwan Newton, who was a passenger in the vehicle, were detained and arrested by the Dodge County Sheriffâ€™s Office. While searching Hutchisonâ€™s vehicle an additional zip lock bag of marijuana was found in the console. A total of 3.1 ounces of marijuana and 13.1 ounces of tobacco were confiscated.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
