As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 594 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
1) On November 25, 2013 at Johnson State Prison, staff reported smelling marijuana on Officer Krystal Tucker. Officer Tucker, who denied any involvement in contraband during questioning, consented to a search. A total of 1.77 ounces of marijuana and 8.39 ounces of tobacco was found rolled in 4 bundles in Officer Tucker's sports bra. Officer Tucker was arrested by the Johnson County Sheriff's department.
2) On December 1, 2013 at Montgomery State Prison, civilian Charmane Gresham dropped off an individual near the chicken houses located on the prison grounds. The individual was attempting to make a drop of contraband. Gresham has been arrested by the Montgomery County Sheriff's department. The individual attempting to make the drop has not been located.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
