Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 329 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state. ​


1) On June 25, 2012, Civilians Earnest Brownlee, Henrietta Morrell, and Darin Keith Arnett were arrested by Tattnall County Sheriff's Department on property at Rogers State Prison. They were in possession of 100 packs of tobacco, one (1) pack of cigarette lighters, and one (1) tube of super glue wrapped in black electrical tape.

2) On June 27, 2012, a Central State Prison Officer Jacobyous King was arrested during a shakedown after his vehicle were searched and officers found over an ounce of marijuana and empty cell phone containers in his vehicle. Bibb County Sheriff's Office made the arrest.

3) On June 30, 2012, Visitor Jamall Young was arrested by the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department for bringing in 11 balloons of marijuana, total weight � ounce, into Calhoun State Prison.

4) On July 1, 2012, Visitor Jamie Rudd was observed passing an unidentified item to an inmate during visitation at Telfair State Prison. Security staff confiscated the items, which turned out to be a small balloon filled with 1.3 ounces of marijuana. Visitor Rudd consented to a search and 3.61 ounces of marijuana was discovered on her person. Her vehicle was searched and several green dot cards were discovered. Visitor Rudd was arrested by the Telfair County Sheriff's Department.

The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
