Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
**MORE THAN 769 CIVILIANS AND 180 STAFF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED TO DATE FOR ATTEMPTING TO INTRODUCE CONTRABAND INTO GDC FACILITIES.**
On April 25, 2015, at Coastal State Prison, staff became aware that a certain officer was going to bring contraband into the facility. When Officer Titra Rozier arrived to the facility, she conducted to a search of her person. During the search a clear bag containing approximately 10 ounces of loose tobacco was found taped under her chest. Titra Rozier was arrested by the Savannah-Chatham County Metro Police Department . Rozier was charged with Violation of Oath of Office and bringing in contraband without permission of the warden.
- On April 27, 2015, at Valdosta State Prison, visitor Stacy Stewart attempted to enter for visitation and could not clear the metal detector. After refusing to be searched, Stewart admitted to having two bundles of tobacco on her person and removed the bundles from under her shirt, weighing approximately one ounce. After a search of her vehicle, staff found $410 in cash, two cell phones, two additional packs of Buglar tobacco and a list of several Green Dot account numbers. Stacy Stewart was arrested by the Lowndes County Sheriffâ€™s Office.
- On April 27, 2015, at Dodge State Prison, staff spotted a person throwing contraband over the fence of the facility. Two packages wrapped in black tape were retrieved by staff and Dodge County Sheriffâ€™s Office dispatched deputies to Dodge SP. Deputies apprehended Drewtan Taylor coming out of the woods by Dodge SP. The contents of the packages included five cellphones, six phone chargers, and 6.4 ounces of smoking tobacco.
