Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
**MORE THAN 761 CIVILIANS AND 172 STAFF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED TO DATE FOR ATTEMPTING TO INTRODUCE CONTRABAND INTO GDC FACILITIES.**
- On February 14, 2015 at Central State Prison, visitor Joann Smith entered the facility and attempted to clear the metal detector. The detector alerted and after visitor Smith consented to a search, a piece of paper was observed sticking out from her waistband. A bag containing approximately three ounces of chewing tobacco was discovered in the front of her pants. Visitor Smith was arrested by Bibb County Sheriffâ€™s Deputies.
