Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities

**MORE THAN 750 CIVILIANS AND 169 STAFF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED TO DATE FOR ATTEMPTING TO INTRODUCE CONTRABAND INTO GDC FACILITIES.**

  1. On November 30, 2014 at Autry State Prison, visitor Martha Harrell was observed attempting to drop an undetermined amount of tobacco on her way into visitation. The tobacco was wrapped in saran wrap and hidden within the fingers of visitor Harrell’s gloves. Visitor Harrell was searched and no other contraband was found on her person. Visitor Harrell was arrested by the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office.


The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
