Investigations was notified and during questioning Ward admitted to bringing in tobacco on two different occasions. Ward's home, which was located on prison property, was searched and six packages of tobacco were found inside the home. The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office arrested Ward for bringing contraband across the guard line.
  2. On June 29, 2014 at Dooly State Prison, staff noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from Officer Akendolyn Westbrook. Officer Westbrook was searched and they discovered two bundles of marijuana weighing 8.6 ounces hidden under her bra. A search of her car revealed three cell phones, five money cards, and $100.
