Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
**MORE THAN 722 CIVILIANS AND 157 STAFF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED TO DATE FOR ATTEMPTING TO INTRODUCE CONTRABAND INTO GDC FACILITIES.**
- On June 1, 2014 at Phillips Transitional Center, staff observed a suspicious vehicle located in the lower parking lot of the facility. Perimeter Patrol and Gwinnett County Police Department were called to the scene. A search of the vehicle was conducted and a pipe with residue and Oxycontin tablets were found inside the vehicle. Driver of the vehicle, Justin McKnight, was arrested by the Gwinnett County Police Department.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
