Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
**MORE THAN 699 CIVILIANS AND 147 STAFF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED TO DATE FOR ATTEMPTING TO INTRODUCE CONTRABAND INTO GDC FACILITIES.**
1) On March 12, 2014 at Baldwin State Prison, staff noticed an inmate acting suspiciously during visitation with visitor Darlene Kicklighter and visitor Mary Ann Thompson. Staff approached the inmate and retrieved a potato chip bag from his person. The bag contained four small balloons, each filled with tobacco and rolling papers. A search was conducted of the inmate and three additional small balloons were found on his person. The visitors were then asked to consent to a search and both complied. One can of dip tobacco was found concealed on body of visitor Thompson. Visitor Kicklighter was also searched, resulting in no findings. The K9 Unit conducted a search of their vehicle, discovering three cans of dip tobacco, one pack of rolling papers, and 0.8 ounces of marijuana inside the pocketbook of visitor Thompson. The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office was called and arrested visitors Kicklighter and Thompson.
