Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
**MORE THAN 605 CIVILIANS AND 115 STAFF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED TO DATE FOR ATTEMPTING TO INTRODUCE CONTRABAND INTO GDC FACILITIES.**
1) On June 13, 2013 at Georgia State Prison, Officer Rodriguez Moore was suspected of brining in contraband. He consented to a search and officers found four bundles of tobacco and two bundles containing eight bags totalling 3.2 ounces of marijuana. Officer Moore was arrested by the Tattnall County Sheriff's Department.
2) On June 15, 2013 at Autry State Prison, Food Service Supervisor Tammie L. Wimberly failed to clear the metal detector. She consented to a search and officers found 1lbs. of marijuana on her person. The Mitchell County Sheriff's Office was contacted and arrested Food Service Supervisor Wimberly.
3) On June 16, 2013 at Johnson State Prison, visitor Crystal Dixon failed to clear the metal detector. The front entry officer found eight balloons containing 0.6 ounces of tobacco on visitor Dixon. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office was called and arrested visitor Dixon. Upon search of her vehicle officers found a loaded Ruger 9mm. The weapon was confiscated by the Deputy Sheriff.
4) On June 16, 2013 at Telfair State Prison, visitor Keisha Jones was observed suspiciously placing a potato chip bag down on the front table of the visitation room. A Lieutenant on duty picked up the bag and discovered a condom inside the bag which contained 50 grams of smoking tobacco. The Telfair County Sheriff's Department arrested visitor Jones for the introduction of contraband across the guard line.
