Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
1) On August 20, 2012, Correctional Officer Keith Holston was found with 2.97 oz. of marijuana at Macon State Prison. A warrant was taken out at the Macon County Sheriff Department in which time he was arrested and taken into custody.
2) On August 20, 2012, staff at Rogers State Prison observed a car pulled off of the road and turned facing oncoming traffic. Staff noticed a package in the back of the car, and it contained 142 packages of tobacco, 12 packages of marijuana (5.6 oz.), six (6) packages of rolling papers, one (1) package with a cell phone battery and charger. Civilians Linda Barker and Eddie Cooley were arrested by Tattnall County Sheriff Department.
3) August 21, 2012, Tattnall County Sheriff Deputy noticed a car traveling towards the Rogers State Prison with a missing head light and conducted a traffic stop. Inside of the vehicle a white bag containing 81 packages of tobacco along with empty packages of tobacco were found. Two bags of marijuana containing 3.8 oz. and a small bag of suspected cocaine were also found. Civilians Rokia Bolden, Shranda Prester and Rouchelle McNair were arrested.
4) On August 22, 2012, the Reidsville Police Department made a routine traffic stop at the Rogers State Prison. Civilians Jasmine Owens and Bilal Marshal were arrested after a vehicle search revealed 15 Samsung cell phones with chargers, three (3) Blue Tooth devices, 28 packages of marijuana (9.4 oz.), 121 packages of tobacco, three (3) packs of cigar wraps and six (6) packs of rolling papers.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
