Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 188 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.​

 

1) On Tuesday, December 20, 2011, Officer Mike Huckeba was arrested by the Carrolll County Sheriff's Department after authorities received information that Huckeba was providing contraband to inmates at Carroll County Prison in Carrollton, Georgia.

2) On Tuesday, December 20, 2011, Ashley McNeal was arrested by the Tattnall County Sheriff's Department after she attempted to place 183 packs of tobacco and three ounces of marijuana in a location near Rogers State Prison in Reidsville, Georgia.

3) On Monday, December 26, 2011, Kathy Willet was arrested by the Jesup Police Department in Jesup, Georgia after she placed four packs of tobacco and four packs of TOPS behind a dumpster. The contraband was to be picked up by inmates on an outside work detail from the Long Unit in Ludowici, Georgia which is a satellite location of Smith State Prison in Glennville, Georgia.

The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
