Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 185 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.​

 

1)   On Wednesday, December 14, 2011, Officer Sarah Buckner was arrested by the Dooly County Sheriff�s Department at Dooly State Prison in Unadilla. Buckner�s vehicle was searched and packages of tobacco, marijuana and cell phones were found.

2)   On Friday, December 16, 2011, Officer Terry Douglas was arrested by the Wilcox County Sheriff�s Department at Wilcox State Prison in Abbeville. Douglas was searched and tobacco was found hidden in his shoes.

3)   On Saturday, December 17, 2011, Carla Pampkin was arrested by the Wilcox County Sheriff�s Department at Wilcox State Prison in Abbeville. Pampkin was at the facility visiting an inmate when she was observed passing the inmate a bag of chips that contained twelve ounces of marijuana.

4)   On Sunday, December 18, 2011, Deidra Wilson and Dermetric Wilson were arrested by the Wilcox County Sheriffs Department at Wilcox State Prison in Abbeville. They were visiting an inmate at the facility when officers observed them giving the inmate a package that contained a $100 bill and two ounces of marijuana.

The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
