Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities

1) On Tuesday, September 20, 2011, Riley Bell was arrested by the Glennville Police Department at Smith State Prison in Glennville. An officer observed him throwing a package over a fence on prison grounds. The package contained eight cell phones, a SIM card, tobacco, rolling paper and marijuana.

2) On Sunday, September 25, 2011, Michaelangelo Kinchen was arrested by the Glennville Police Department at Smith State Prison in Glennville. Kinchen told officers he was dropped off at the prison to leave contraband for inmates. The items recovered included 39 cell phones, 31 cell phone chargers, rolling paper and tobacco.

3) On Sunday, September 25, 2011, Latavia Wilson was arrested by the Wilcox County Sheriff's at Wilcox State Prison in Abbeville. She was at the facility to visit an inmate when officers discovered marijuana in her possession.

The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
