Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities

1) On Tuesday, August 30, 2011, Sgt. Lonnie Bradley was arrested at Bulloch County Prison by the Bulloch County Sheriffs Department. Bradley was in possession of oxycontin, marijuana and tobacco.

2) On Sunday, September 4, 2011, Theodore Gary James was arrested by the Glennville Police Department. Officers at Smith State Prison in Glennville found two footballs on the grounds filled with tobacco, cigars, rolling paper, cigarette lighters, cell phones, cell phone batteries and marijuana. James is a former inmate.

3) On Wednesday, September 7, 2011, Joanna Roberson and Dallas Spivey were arrested at Ware State Prison in Waycross by the Ware County Sheriff's Office for bringing cell phones and tobacco to the facility.

4) On Sunday, September 11, 2011, Lajuanda Benjamin was arrested at Ware State Prison in Waycross by the Ware County Sheriff's Office. She was visiting an inmate at the facility when officers found marijuana in her possession and inside her vehicle.

The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
