Johnson State Prison Inmates Sentenced for Contraband Possession
Three inmates from Johnson State Prison in Wrightsville were sentenced for possession of contraband:
- Corey Lee received five years for possession of a cell phone.
- Rene Torres received three years for possession of a cell phone.
- Courtney Slade received five years for possession of a weapon.
After sentencing, Judge Stan Smith told the court he supports the Department's mission of protecting the public, staff and other inmates by prosecuting those inmates in violation of the law.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
