Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities

1) On Wednesday, June 29, 2011, Correctional Officer Tiffany Lipscomb was arrested at Smith State Prison in Glennville for having marijuana in her possession. The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office assisted.

2) On Sunday, July 3, 2011, Tara Selena Samuels was arrested at Macon State Prison in Oglethorpe. She was at the facility to visit an inmate and attempted to bring him marijuana. The Macon County Sheriff's Department assisted.

3) On Sunday, July 3, 2011, a 16-year-old was arrested at Lee State Prison in Leesburg. The teen was found hiding near the facility's recycling area. A basketball filled with contraband was also found in the area with 13 cell phones, 16 cell phone chargers, tobacco, cigars and lighters. The Lee County Sheriff's Department assisted.

4) On Monday, July 4, 2011, Alicia Quarles was arrested at Wilcox State Prison in Abbeville. She was visiting an inmate when she admitted to bringing him marijuana. Angel Mott and Valencia Garlington rode in the same vehicle as Quarles and were also arrested when marijuana was found in the car. The Wilcox Sheriff's Office assisted.

The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
