Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities

On Monday, April 25, 2011, Luther Brooks, Ashley Ricks and Jerome Curry were arrested at Smith State Prison in Glennville. They were at the facility to drop off contraband. The Glennville Police Department assisted.

On Wednesday, April 27, 2011, Probationer Danny Porter and Aisha Johnson were arrested at Ware State Prison in Waycross. Officers received information that they would be dropping off contraband at the facility. Upon arrival, their vehicle was stopped and authorities found a football filled with tobacco and four cell phones. The Ware County Sheriff's Office assisted.

On Saturday, April 30, 2011, Kristen Kilpatrick and Juan Kennedy were arrested at Rogers State Prison in Reidsville. They dropped off contraband at the facility, including marijuana and tobacco. The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office assisted.

On Sunday, May 1, 2011, Nicole Lindsey was arrested at Telfair State Prison in Helena. She was at the facility visiting an inmate when she admitted giving marijuana to the inmate. The Telfair County Sheriff's Office assisted.

On Monday, May 2, 2011, Officer Jeffrey Edwards was arrested at Rogers State Prison in Reidsville. He admitted to allowing inmates to bring contraband into the facility and 11 cell phones were found. The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office assisted.

On Wednesday, May 4, 2011, Andre Johnson was arrested at Rogers State Prison in Reidsville. He dropped off contraband at the facility, including marijuana and 84 packs of tobacco. The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office assisted.

On Saturday, May 7, 2011, Ana Mercado Artege was arrested at Hays State Prison in Trion. She was attempting to enter the facility with a cell phone taped to her upper body. The Chattooga County Sheriff's Department assisted.

On Saturday, May 7, 2011, Natalie Cole Smith and Curlie Wade were arrested at Rogers State Prison in Reidsville. They admitted to being at the prison to drop off contraband. The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office assisted.

On Saturday, May 7, 2011, Michael J. Smith was arrested at Rogers State Prison in Reidsville. An officer observed Smith walking on prison property. Eight cell phones and tobacco were found in the area where he was seen. The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office assisted.

The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
