New Warden at Telfair State Prison
Jermaine White Reassigned
 

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the reassignment of Jermaine White to Warden at Telfair State Prison effective July 1, 2020. As Warden, White is responsible for overseeing approximately 305 staff members and 1,200 close-security male offenders.

“White has proven his commitment to our mission of public safety during his tenure with the agency,” said Commissioner Ward. “His track record of bold, courageous leadership will help ensure the safe and secure operation of Telfair State Prison.”

White joined the Department of Corrections in 2002 as a Correctional Officer at Irwin County Parole Revocation Center. He quickly rose through the ranks and was promoted to Lieutenant in 2009. In 2010, he became a Probation Surveillance Officer at the Cordele Probation Office and was promoted to Probation Officer at the Fitzgerald Probation Office in 2012, where he served as the Assistant Probation Tactical Squad Commander of the Southwest Area. In 2013, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Lee State Prison and to Superintendent at the Albany Transitional Center in 2017. On July 1, 2018, he was promoted to Warden at Washington State Prison and served in that capacity until his reassignment to Telfair State Prison.

White earned an associate degree in Law Enforcement from Thomas University, a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Thomas University and a Master’s degree from Columbus State University. He is a Senior POST Instructor and has completed the following departmental training: Basic Probation Officer Training (BPOT); Basic Management Training (BMT); Professional Management Program (PMP); Advanced Management Training (AMT); Deputy Wardens Academy; Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI); Wardens Pre-Command. He also serves on the Board of the Georgia Professional Association of Community Supervision.
