New Superintendent at Albany Transitional Center
Jermaine White promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Jermaine White to Superintendent of Albany Transitional Center (TC) effective July 16, 2017. White will be responsible for overseeing 40 staff members and 155 minimum-security male detainees at the facility located in Albany, Ga.
“Jermaine has been a dedicated member of the GDC since he began his career as a Correctional Officer in 2002,” said Commissioner Dozier. “We look forward to the knowledge and experience he will bring to Albany Transition Center.”
White began his career with the Department in 2002 as a Correctional Officer at Irwin County Parole Revocation Center. He rose through the ranks from Correctional Officer to Sergeant, and in 2009, he was promoted to Lieutenant. In 2010, he became a Probation Surveillance Officer at the Cordele Probation Office, and was promoted to Probation Officer at the Fitzgerald Probation Office in 2012, where he served as the Assistant Probation Tactical Squad Commander for the Southwest. In 2013, he was promoted to Specialized Probation Supervisor at the Fitzgerald Probation Office, and in 2015, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Lee State Prison, where he currently serves.
White has an Associate of Science in Law Enforcement from Thomas University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Thomas University. He is a sworn member of the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society. He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Probation Officer Training (BPOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), the Professional Management Program (PMP), Advanced Management Training (AMT), Deputy Wardens Academy, Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI), Wardens Pre-Command, and is a Senior POST Instructor. White also serves on the Georgia Professional Association of Community Supervision board as the GDC Representative.
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
