New Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Autry State Prison
Brian Shaver Reassigned
FORSYTH, Ga. — The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Interim Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the reassignment of Brian Shaver to deputy warden of care and treatment at Autry State Prison (SP) effective February 1, 2019. In this role, Shaver will oversee the supervision of educational programs, health services, library services, counseling programs, recreational services and the mental health services of approximately 1,700 medium security male offenders.
“Shaver has been an exceptional leader throughout his 23 years with the agency,” Ward said. “He is a role model to the staff and offenders, and we look forward to his continued leadership at Autry SP”
Shaver started his career with the department in 1996 as a general trades craftsman at Wilcox SP. In 1997, he was promoted to a trades supervisor at Wilcox SP and, in 2002, he transferred to Patten Probation Detention Center as a general trades craftsman. Shaver transferred to Engineering and Construction Services in 2004 as a correctional security system specialist and transferred to Calhoun SP as the facility maintenance engineer in 2015. He was promoted in 2016 to deputy warden of administration at Autry SP, where he served until his reassignment.
Shaver is pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice through Thomas University. He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Purchasing, Fundamentals of Purchasing, the Professional Management Program, Supervisor I, II, & III, Executive BCOT, Deputy Warden of Administration Academy, and is a Georgia Certified Purchasing Associate.
