Lee Evidence Based State Prison Hosts F&CB Family Day

133 individuals participated

FORSYTH, Ga. – On February 3, Lee State Prison (SP), the first evidence based state prison in Georgia, hosted Family Day for their Faith and Character Based (F&CB) program. There were 71 offenders and 62 family members who participated. The event included a jump house, bowling, Ping Pong, Paper Mache fishing, and corn hole.

“Family Day events help to strengthen family bonds and keep offenders motivated for change,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “At the event, the offenders are able to spend quality time with their family, but they are also able to share how they have grown as a result of the Faith and Character Based program.”

The 12-month F&CB program, implemented at Lee SP in 2007, is a four-phase program that concentrates on building offenders’ mind, body, and spirit. The four phases are Foundation, Discovery, Transformation, and Transition. A total of 11 offenders graduated the program in 2016.
