New Deputy Warden of Security Named at Georgia State Prison - Trevonza Bobbitt Promoted
Forsyth — Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Trevonza Bobbitt to Deputy Warden of Security at Georgia State Prison effective September 1, 2014. The facility is located in Reidsville, Ga. As Deputy Warden of Security, Bobbitt will be responsible for supervising and managing 434 security staff and the overall management and operation of the prison at Georgia State Prison.
"Trevonza has dedicated over 16 years of faithful service to the Department," said Commissioner Brian Owens. "We look forward to the leadership and experience he will bring to Georgia State Prison," added Owens.
Bobbitt joined the Department in 1998 as a Correctional Officer at Macon State Prison. In 2001, Bobbitt was promoted to Sergeant and in 2003, he was promoted to Lieutenant at Macon SP. In 2008, Bobbitt was promoted to Chief of Security at Macon SP, and in 2010, Bobbitt was promoted to Unit Manager of Macon State Prison, where he most recently served.
Bobbitt earned an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix. During his time with the Department, he has completed Performance Management Program (PMP); Basic Management Training (BMT); Security & Integrity Training; as well as several other GDC leadership skills and specialized training courses.
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners and over 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
