Corrections to Host Military Career Fair - Several organizations to Participate
Forsyth - The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC), in conjunction with the Georgia National Guard, will host several law enforcement and public safety agencies for a military personnel career fair on Thursday, March 20 from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. at the U.S. Army Reserve Center at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga.
The current participating agencies (GDC, Georgia National Guard, Georgia Department of Defense, Department of Juvenile Justice, State Board of Pardons and Paroles, Department of Labor, Department of Public Safety, Mental Health Management, Georgia Correctional Healthcare and Gwinnett County Police Department) have many jobs available for military personnel returning from duty. The list of participating agencies is subject to change before the day of the event, therefore we ask that you please check our agency's website at dcor.state.ga.us for an updated list.
In addition, the Department of Labor will be in attendance and will provide access to job information and job counseling to applicants. This event is free and open to active duty and transitioning military personnel, National Guard personnel, reservists and veterans who register online at: adobe.ly/1h2OmMc or at GDCjobs.com.
"Hosting these job fairs is a win-win for both the military and the Department of Corrections," said Commissioner Brian Owens. "By taking these job opportunities directly to our military men and women, we have access to a talented, capable workforce."
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
