Data Operations

It is a component of Risk Reduction Services responsible for supporting current program initiatives as well as determining their value in reducing recidivism.

Profile of Data Operations Unit

  • Ensures the effectiveness of current programming through on-going evaluation

  • Provides strategic and operational planning in the development of evaluation and performance measures for program components
  • Coordinates with external research professionals in conducting outcome and process evaluations

  • Works in an advisory capacity with each programmatic area in Risk Reduction Services

  • Produces the monthly COMPSTAT report. COMPSTAT displays counseling, education and vocational class information for each state prison. This gives the facilities information on how they can better utilize their program participation

The unit evaluates sites for outcome measurements based on research-based programs indicating change in:

Intermediate Measures

  • Technical Violations

  • Disciplinary Reports

  • Grievances

  • Drug Screens

  • Program Enrollments

  • Completions (successful and unsuccessful)

Long Range Measure

  • Recidivism rates

The unit provides these measurements to executive leadership for quality assurance as well as determining program effectiveness in reducing recidivism. These reports are also submitted during the Georgia Legislative Session and are used as a basis for budgeting in the following areas:

  • Academic Education

  • Workforce Development

  • Cognitive-Behavioral

  • Substance Abuse

  • Counseling
