Georgia Correctional Industries

Georgia Correctional Industries (GCI) was established in 1960. GCI sells goods manufactured by state inmates to other government agencies. Products offered include office furniture, road signs, garments, eyeglasses, mattresses, metal fabrication, engraving, embroidery, upholstery, chemicals and print services. GCI also provides job training for inmates as part of the Department's effort to reduce offender recidivism. More information about GCI products and services can be found at their website.

Georgia Correctional Industries also oversees the Department's Food and Farm Services, which is responsible for managing timber resources and feeding GDC's inmates. A large portion of the food consumed by inmates is produced on GDC farms, including milk, eggs, beef and vegetables. Food and Farm trains inmates in food production, processing, warehousing and preparation.Food and Farm Services also produces food for 37 other state and local governmental agencies.
